In Detail |
Days 1 Kathmandu - Zhangmu (1300m - 2500m) (123km) - Early
morning drive to Nepal - China border (Kodari) 5-6 hrs. necessary
borders formalities both side immigration check into hotel. |
Days 2 Zhagmu - Xegar (4350m) (244km): Drive uphill to the
highest plateau of the world with the typical view of the Tibetan
landscape offering sheer feeling of standing on the roof of the
world crossing over Nyalam Pass (3800m) & Lalung La Pass (5050m)
weather permitting breathtaking panorama of beautiful Himalayan
ranges including Mt. Everest etc. |
Days 3 Xegar-Xigatse (3900m)(235km)-Continue scenic
drive crossing over Gyatchu La (5220m) the highest pass enroute to
Lhasa by Lhatse from where a route to Mt. Kailash bifurcates to the
west. Overnight at hotel. |
Days 4 Xigatse - Gyantse (3950 m) (90km) - Morning
sightseeing to the Panchen Lama's Throne Tashilhumpu Monastery.
Drive to Gyantse and visit to the Khumbum Stupa & Palkhor Monastery.
Overnight at hotel. |
Days 5 Gyantse - Lhasa (3650m) (261km) - Full day
picturesque drive crossing over Karo La (5010 m), Khamba La (4794
m), colorful yamdruk Lake and Tibetan lifeline river Brahmaputra
(Yarlung Tsangpo). Overnight at hotel. |
Days 6 In Lhasa - two full day sightseeing tour to
Lhasa including Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Bazaar, Potala Palace,
Drepung & Sera Monasteries. Overnight at hotel. |
Days 7 Crossing Nara La (4500m.) Camp in Hilsa. |
Days 8 Lhasa-Kathmandu-Early morning drive to Gonggar
airport for departure flight to Kathmandu or to your onward
destination. |
